Description
Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an opening for a Supervisor in its Case Management Services Unit (CMS). In this position the Supervisor is responsible for providing supervisory support to the Complaint Room Complex, CMS and DANY.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Supervise assigned staff productivity and ensure case files are delivered to court expeditiously.
  • Respond to court personnel and NYPD when discrepancies arise.
  • Consistently and proactively anticipate and respond to Assistant District Attorneys’ request for assistance in locating information on their case files.
  • Ensure sufficient staffing for assigned schedule.
  • Perform data entry using pre-arraignment data base system.
  • Perform Court Part Specialist duties in arraignment parts.
  • Audit all arraigned cases for accuracy and completion of information.
  • Collate and file material and search files for relevant material.
  • Check records for accuracy of information and conformity with established policy.
  • Demonstrate polite, helpful and knowledgeable persona when interacting with other criminal justice agencies.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to supervise various levels of staff based on office initiatives.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Superior interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, witnesses, defense attorneys, law enforcement personnel, community residents, community organizations and partners, law enforcement agencies to build institutional relationships a must.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
  • Ability to maintain, update and edit existing and new in-house proprietary databases.
  • Can work independently and manage multiple short-term projects.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workflow.
  • Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
  • Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment; detail oriented and self-motivated.
  • Ability to prioritize among competing needs and respond quickly to requests for information.
  • An understanding of general practices related to legal records management, data protection, and privacy/confidentiality.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience in the Criminal Justice System strongly preferred.
Commitment:
  • One (1) year commitment to hiring bureau.
