Description
Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for a Special Assistant to the Executive Assistant District Attorney and Chief Diversity Officer (EADA). In this position the Special Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the executive tasked with strengthening DANY’s policies relating to workforce diversity and inclusion, working with Legal and Support Staff Training, and leading an expansion of DANY’s existing mentoring program. The Special Assistant will assist the EADA who also serves as Chief of the Special Victims Bureau, where she oversees the management of the Child Abuse Unit, Domestic Violence Unit, Elder Abuse Unit, Sex Crimes Unit, Human Trafficking Program, and Witness Aid Services Unit with projects as needed. The EADA also oversees the District Attorney’s Northern Manhattan and Washington Heights Offices.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Perform a variety of administrative and executive support tasks that are highly confidential and sensitive.
  • Act as first point person of contact for the Executive Assistant District Attorney.
  • Research, compile, assimilate, and prepare confidential and sensitive documents, and brief the executive regarding content.
  • Compose letters and memoranda in response to inquiries.
  • Reviews, proofreads, and edits documents prepared for the executive’s signature.
  • Produce a variety of documents, charts, and graphs in final form.
  • Read and screen incoming correspondence and reports; make preliminary assessment of the importance of materials and organize documents; handle some matters personally and forward appropriate materials to the executive.
  • Receive and screen incoming calls and visitors, determine which are priority matters, and alert the executive.
  • Act as liaison between the executive and others by transmitting directives, instructions and assignments and follow up on status of assignments.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the executive’s calendar to arrange appointments, meetings, and conferences.
  • Update executive on status of issues before scheduled meetings.
  • Prepare agenda and collect materials for meetings, speeches, and conferences.
  • Make travel arrangements; prepare itineraries, prepare, compile and maintain travel vouchers and records.
  • Organize and maintain various filing and records management systems.
  • Perform a full range of administrative and investigative duties.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
  • Perform all assignments in an accurate, professional and expeditious manner.
  • Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills required.
  • Must communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment; detail oriented and self-motivated.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, with a high regard for confidentiality and diplomacy.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative and good judgment essential.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, prioritize among competing needs and respond quickly to requests for information.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
Commitment:
