Description
Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has five (5) openings for Discovery Analysts within its Investigation Division. The Investigation Division is comprised of five bureaus and units: the Cybercrime and Identity Theft Bureau, Financial Frauds Bureau, Major Economic Crimes Bureau, Rackets Bureau, and the Public Corruption Unit. The Division prosecutes and investigations a broad range of white collar, financial, fraud, and cyber related crimes. As a result of long term investigations, the Investigation Division develops voluminous documentary and digital evidence that must be provided to the defense in an organized manner expeditiously. Analysts will serve as a centralized resource in their assigned unit in the tracking of documentary and digital evidence prior to each arraignment. Each Analyst will work with Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) and Trial Preparation Assistants (TPAs) and other analyst to execute a multitude of tasks related to tracking and production of discovery materials.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate with prosecuting ADA and other DANY staff regarding the production of discovery.
  • Identify production requirements and familiarize themselves with the new discovery laws.
  • Assist with the smooth and efficient production of documents and non-document types, including redacting, Bates stamping, and watermarking.
  • Assist in digitizing documentary evidence.
  • Assist in cataloging and tracking both documentary and digital evidence.
  • Perform related administrative and clerical tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of internal and external personnel, including lawyers, law enforcement officers and agencies, paralegals, managers, and technical support personnel.
  • Highly skilled in standard computer operating systems and software (Adobe Acrobat, Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) with a strong ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Superior organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivator, and able manage multiple assignments.
  • Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required; technology-related major preferred. 
Preferred Requirements:
  • Prior experience in the legal field.
  • Prior experience with eDiscovery with a law firm or vendor.
  • Knowledge or working capabilities for the following applications: Concordance, Nuix, and emerging eDiscovery platforms for the legal market.
Commitment:
  • Two (2) year commitment to hiring bureau.
