Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an opening for an intern in its Human Resources Department for the spring semester of 2018. In this position, the intern will assist the Recruitment, Training, and Development Unit in a wide range of projects and tasks related to support staff recruitment, on-boarding, orientation, and training. This internship is designed to provide an intern with a comprehensive understanding of the vital role that Human Resources plays in a governmental organization. The intern will also have opportunities to gain exposure to other HR functions including, but not limited to benefits, labor relations, and payroll.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the research, creation, and review of job postings.
  • Assist in posting and updating job postings across multiple college/university platforms and job websites.
  • Assist in streamlining recruitment contacts.
  • Catalog resumes from career fairs and events, conducting candidate follow-up as instructed.
  • Assist in the review and update of recruitment and training materials.
  • Assist in contacting newly hired staff and providing information and forms necessary for employment processing.
  • Assist in the implementation of new hire orientation series and lectures.
  • Work with and observe other HR units, including but not limited to benefits, labor relations, and payroll.
  • Perform related duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated interest in Human Resources field.
  • Excellent organization, communication, writing, and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to learn, update, and edit existing proprietary applications and quickly learn and use various computer systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
Eligibility:
  • Students must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program, preferably majoring in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related areas.
  • Students must be in their Junior or Senior year of study during Spring 2018 to be eligible for internship placement.
  • Students must be eligible to receive school credit to participate in this internship.
Commitment:
  • Students will be required to work at least one full day and a half day (totaling a weekly minimum of 12 hours) throughout the course of the semester, with a minimum twelve-week commitment to the internship.
