Description

Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an opening for a Case Coordinator in the Special Litigation Bureau which oversees the Mental Health Court and Veteran’s Treatment Court - felony diversion courts. The goal of both courts is to ensure that eligible justice-involved individuals are offered programming and services that meet their mental health and/or addiction needs, with the ultimate aim of promoting public safety, reducing recidivism rates, and improving the quality of life for those living with mental illness. The Case Coordinator is responsible for reviewing mental health histories, managing a caseload of diverted individuals, reviewing program referrals and placements, and monitoring compliance.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing and summarizing medical/psychiatric records and histories.
  • Managing a caseload of program participants.
  • Participation in interviews to assess individual’s eligibility.
  • Familiarity with the range of appropriate community based service providers in the NYC area.
  • Maintaining current notes in electronic databases and paper files regarding participants’ progress.
  • Keeping abreast of relevant evidence-based practices, and attending trainings and team meetings.
  • Performing other job-related duties and special projects as required/appropriate.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented; ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Ability to learn, update, and edit existing proprietary applications.
  • Ability to work independently with frequent interruptions and manage deadlines.
  • Ability to interact and communicate (orally and in writing) with all levels of staff, court representatives, participants, service providers, and witnesses.
  • Familiarity with the concepts of Risk-Need-Responsivity, procedural justice, and problem-solving courts.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Forensic Psychology required.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Familiarity with Veteran Affairs benefits and programing
  • Bilingual Spanish-speaking.
  • Two years of experience in clinical and/or case management fields. 
Commitment:
  • Two (2) year commitment to the hiring bureau.
