Description
Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for a Cisco Network Engineer in its Information Technology (IT) Department. DANY's IT Department provides enterprise-wide IT solutions for investigations, prosecution support, and case management. In this position, the Programmer will work on developing new databases and new applications while maintaining more than 80 in-house applications. These applications are used to track case data, produce case papers, provide prosecution support, communicate with victims, and share information with other law enforcement agencies. We are seeking an Engineer with a solid background in network design and maintenance. The selected candidate will work closely with members of DANY's IT Department. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Working alongside Senior Network Engineers and Network Services staff. 
  • Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current network. 
  • Working with vendors and assisting in the process of identifying network equipment for procurement. 
  • Configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security. 
  • Manage and support Meraki WiFi network. 
  • Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Arranging scheduled upgrades.
  • Investigating real time issues in the network.
  • Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases.
  • Reporting network status on a regular basis.
  • Perform related tasks and assignments as required.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related network engineer experience required. 
  • TCP/IP / VLAN knowledge.
  • Cisco VoIP experience.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, Load Balancers, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Multisite and Datacenter connectivity experience.
  • CCNA Security Certification a plus. 
  • Ability to provide estimations and meet deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently with teammates a must.
  • Self-driven and willingness to expand technical skill set.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, prioritize among competing needs and respond quickly to requests for information.
  • Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative, and good judgment essential.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science/Engineering, or similar field. 
  • Master's degree preferred. 
Commitment:
  • Two (2) year commitment to hiring department.
