Description
Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has openings for Litigation Support Audio Reviewers in its Litigation Support Unit (LSU). LSU helps DANY keep up with the pace of change occurring in discovery and related technology. LSU plays a crucial role in managing the growing volume of digital evidence coming to DANY. LSU has principal responsibility for: providing expert courtroom testimony, processing digital evidence, reviewing digital evidence for privilege (via the Privilege Review Unit), assisting case teams in their response to discovery requests, and managing body worn camera videos. In this position, the Audio Reviewers will be tasked with listening to recordings of calls made by individuals in Department of Corrections (DOC) custody and provided to DANY, to determine appropriate redactions, and apply those redactions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist with the management and organization of Rikers calls.
  • Coordinate the retrieval and review of audio recordings of telephone calls for DANY cases, including:
    • Associate all Rikers calls with an arrest and if necessary notify ADA of the existence of the audio file.
    • Identify cases with missing Rikers calls and coordinate with the DOC and ADAs to obtain those files.
  • Review, transcribe, and redact audio files.
  • Assist in providing relevant information to other DANY units on analysis and reporting metrics.
  • Perform related tasks and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Highly skilled in standard computer operating systems and software (Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with strong ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to work with large amounts of information and data.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivator and able to manage multiple assignments.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, law enforcement representatives, and outside visitors.
  • Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Educational Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Relevant work experience and/or training performing the duties described above may substitute for Associate’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Requirements:
  • One (1) year of criminal justice or paralegal experience.
  • Project management experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages a plus.
  • Familiarity with the office and New York City and State courts a plus.
Commitment:
  • One (1) year commitment to hiring bureau.
