Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office is seeking two (2) Coordinators for its Summer High School Internship Program (July 5 - August 10, 2018). The High School Internship Program is a selective summer internship that provides students with an insider’s view of the criminal justice system. Each intern is assigned to a unit within the Office and helps Assistant District Attorneys and other staff members with their work. Interns also attend presentations and trips and participate in a mock trial competition. The coordinators of the High School Internship Program report to and provide support to the Attorneys-in-Charge of the program and function as the primary liaison between the students, their parents and their supervisors.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Implement the daily programming
  • Lead off-site field trips
  • Coordinate ongoing communication with mentors and supervisors
  • Manage communication with parents
  • Manage attendance
  • Perform related administrative tasks
Qualifications:
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow directions and apply proper procedures and guidelines
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively
  • Ability to exercise initiative and anticipate potential issues
  • Excellent organization, communication, writing, and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
  • Prior experience working with young people is a plus (e.g., camp counselor, teaching assistant)
  • Prior experience at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is a plus (e.g., internship programs)
Eligibility Requirements:
  • To be eligible to apply, you must be a rising junior or senior enrolled in an undergraduate program by May/June 2018; or
  • Approaching/anticipate graduating from an undergraduate program by May/June 2018

Dates:
Please note that the position(s) are temporary and would last from June 4 - August 10, 2018. There is some flexibility as to the start date.
