Description
Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office has an opening for a Bureau Administrator in its Trial Division. The Trial Division has principal responsibility for prosecuting a wide variety of cases such as misdemeanor assault, driving while intoxicated, drug possession, and theft offenses. They also handle more serious felony cases including homicides, shootings, stabbing, sexual assaults, burglaries, assaults, drug and gun possession, robberies, and other types of violent crime. In this position the Bureau Administrator is responsible for providing highly-skilled supervisory, administrative and paralegal support to the bureau and office.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for supervising paralegals, secretarial support staff and seasonal interns.
  • Train and supervise paralegals, support staff and interns.
  • Coordinate paralegal and support staff hiring process.
  • Maintain bureau case tracking system and perform statistical analysis.
  • Perform computerized data searches relevant to specific cases assigned within the trial bureau.
  • Respond to inquiries from outside agencies and complainants.
  • Maintain bureau’s physical plant including coordinating ADA and TPA office moves, scheduling cleaning of bureau and offices.
  • Ensure that case evidence is returned to property clerk in a timely fashion.
  • Approve support staff weekly timesheets.
  • Perform other administrative and paralegal duties.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to supervise various levels of staff based on agency initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to quickly learn in-house proprietary applications.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workflow.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple short-term projects.
  • Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
  • Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative and good judgment essential.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, witnesses, defense attorneys and law enforcement personnel.

Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Preferred Requirements:
  • One (1) year of criminal justice experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Citynet systems a plus.

Commitment:
  • One (1) year commitment to hiring bureau.
