Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) is looking to hire a Quality Assurance Analyst in its Information Technology (IT) Department. DANY IT provides enterprise-wide IT solutions for investigations, prosecution support, and case management. IT maintains more than 80 in-house software programs used to track case data, produce case papers, provide prosecution support, communicate with victims, and share information with other law enforcement agencies. IT has an opening for a Quality Assurance Analyst to evaluate and test software programs to verify the program’s functions meet agency needs and office standards. In this position, the Analyst will participate in the full life-cycle of our application development process, including reviewing requirements and specifications, and documenting processes. The Analyst will work closely with members of IT, Assistant District Attorneys, and support staff throughout the office.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Testing software programs and comparing end result to project requirements and other documentation.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and documenting software program defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies.
  • Responding to inquiries from users and IT Help Desk regarding functions and operations of software programs.
  • Creating and maintaining test scripts. Contributes to establishment of standards and procedures for program design and testing.
  • Recommending program improvements or revisions to programmers and analysts.
  • Coordinating user testing.
  • Identifying program discrepancies from standards, and suggests modifications to conform to established office standards.
  • Documenting, tracking, and communicating test plans, test results, analysis, and unresolved problems.
  • Managing testing problems in HEAT.
  • Helping with training and supporting users.
  • Reviewing and contributing to software program documentation and How-to guides disseminated throughout the office.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years' relevant experience required.
  • Must be able to identify problems in timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, and thereafter develop alternative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills a must.
  • Must work well in teams, know how to balance team and individual responsibilities, and able to contribute to building a positive team spirit.
  • Ability to provide estimations and meet deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Self-driven and willingness to expand skill set.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, prioritize among competing needs, and respond quickly to requests for information.
  • Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative, critical eye, and good judgment essential.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; technology-related field strongly preferred.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system a plus.

Commitment:

  • One (1) year commitment to the hiring bureau.
