Description
Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney’s Office has an immediate opening for a Policy and Planning Analyst in its Bureau of Planning and Management. Planning functions as the internal management consulting arm of the office, overseeing data analysis, grants management, policy analysis and management of the Criminal Justice Investment Initiative, a $250 million investment in crime prevention and criminal justice system reform projects. In this position, the Policy and Planning Analyst will be responsible for supporting the unit with a wide range of duties, including: policy research, project management-related tasks pertaining to the Criminal Justice Investment Initiative, data analysis and grants management. This is a highly visible position that involves direct contact with executive and senior management.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Support the project management of the Criminal Justice Investment Initiative (CJII) a $250 million investment in crime prevention programs and criminal justice system reform, including developing an organizational system to manage administrative aspects of the portfolio. Participate in ongoing calls with CJII grantees, conduct site visits, develop performance management reports to executive staff to demonstrate progress, and liaise with the office’s technical assistance consultant.
  • Manage a federal and state grants portfolio to support the Office’s special victims prosecutions and victim counseling services.
  • Perform policy research, including literature reviews and national best practices research on key issues such as bail reform, alternatives to incarceration, and procedural justice. Identify emerging trends in criminal justice research.
  • Conduct discrete data analysis requests.
  • Conduct more complex data analyses to support the development of data-driven policy decisions.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required.
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented, self-motivated, highly-organized, resourceful, and reliable.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a general knowledge or willingness to gain proficiency in R (or other statistical software) and Microsoft SQL.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Interest in, or knowledge of, the criminal justice system.
Commitment:
  • A two (2) year commitment to the hiring bureau.
