Description
Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for an Investigative Analyst in its Conviction Integrity Program. In this position, the Analyst will act as the liaison between IT and Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) in the Conviction Integrity Program to maintain DANY’s SharePoint catalog of civil rights lawsuits involving New York City Police Department officers. In addition, the Analyst will help train searchers in other bureaus on how to query commercial databases, and how to download, format, and analyze those documents for pertinent information. In some cases, the Analyst will draw on resources from multiple bureaus to help prepare for complex matters in units without their own searchers.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist with procedure for discovery and analysis of information about civil lawsuits with specified defendants.
  • Query WestLaw, Lexis, E-Courts, and Scroll to download lawsuit documents.
  • Maintain and update SharePoint central catalog of civil lawsuits.
  • Gathering pertinent information obtained from other sources.
  • Standardizing information received into an easily accessible format.
  • Setting up an ongoing mechanism for updating the information.
  • Creating hyperlinks to source documents.
  • Retrieving documents from court.
  • Collaborating with other DANY units on reporting and analysis.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and SharePoint required.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Superior organizational, time management, writing and communication skills are essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and self-motivated.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Knowledge of the local, state, and federal court structure a plus.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Experience with Westlaw, Lexis, Pacer, E-Courts, and Scroll a plus.
Commitment:
  • One (1) year commitment to hiring bureau.
