Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an opening for a Senior Counter Terrorism Analyst in its Counter Terrorism Program. DANY’s Counter Terrorism Program investigates domestic and international threats to the citizens of New York with an emphasis on disrupting those individuals who recruit and inspire others to engage in acts of terror, and those who finance terrorist activities. In this position, the Senior Analyst is responsible for providing highly skilled analytical investigative support to Assistant District Attorneys and the Office.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Review communications from various sources, and translates/interprets such, to determine potential targets.
• Work with Investigators and ADAs to do research and build cases in the area of terrorism financing and related crimes. 
• Research individuals with an affinity towards terrorist groups by utilizing and analyzing social media, records from financial institutions, and subject’s criminal history.
• Develop and maintain relationships with outside Law Enforcement Agencies (both Federal and Local), as well as Financial Institutions & Private Sector entities in order to discuss leads, de-conflict case work, and develop cases for arrest and prosecution.
• Attend meetings with other agencies as required or assigned and follows-up with current investigations by working with other agency analysts.
• Collaborate with DANY IT in order to develop computer programs that fit the needs of the Counter Terrorism Program and similar programs at DANY.
• Perform related tasks or work on special projects/investigations as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Computer proficiency required: Microsoft Office (specifically Excel); advanced knowledge of criminal justice investigative internet search techniques.
• Proficiency in Internet search strategies and techniques.
• Exceptional organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple assignments required.
• Ability to think and perform in a highly stressful and fast paced environment required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, financial institutions, regulators, and law enforcement agencies to build institutional relationships a must.
• Ability to communicate investigative results to other team members and to testify in court regarding investigative results is also required.
• Superior organizational, time management, writing and communication skills are essential.  

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

Preferred Requirements:

• Reading, writing and oral proficiency in Arabic, Urdu and/or Pashto a plus.
• Minimum one (1) year experience in the criminal justice field preferred, specifically in the area of Counter Terrorism initiatives/investigations.   

Commitment:

• One (1) year commitment to the hiring bureau.
