Description
Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has openings for Litigation Support Video Viewers in its Litigation Support Unit (LSU). LSU helps DANY keep up with the pace of change occurring in discovery and related technology. LSU plays a crucial role in managing the growing volume of digital evidence coming to DANY. LSU has principal responsibility for: providing expert courtroom testimony, processing digital evidence, reviewing digital evidence for privilege (via the Privilege Review Unit), assisting case teams in their response to discovery requests, and managing body worn camera videos. In this position, the Video Viewer will be tasked with watching video footage provided by NYPD and other outside entities or individuals, to determine appropriate redactions, and apply those redactions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate the retrieval and viewing of video footage provided by NYPD and other outside entities or individuals for DANY cases.
  • Identify cases with missing BWC videos and coordinate with the NYPD and ADAs to obtain those videos.
  • Assist with problem solving BWC Manager for day-to-day use.
  • Collaborate with other DANY units on analysis and reporting metrics.
  • View video footage and apply necessary redactions.
  • Edit footage to, among other things, obscure the faces of undercover police officers, redact numbers, names, and addresses from recordings.
  • Perform related tasks and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Lexis/Nexis and/or Clear required.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, Avid, and Premiere.
  • Familiarity with basic audiovisual recordings and editing technology, and the ability to quickly learn new or emerging technologies is required.
  • Ability to work with large amounts of information and data.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivator and able to manage multiple assignments.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, law enforcement representatives, and outside visitors.
  • Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Educational Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Relevant work experience and/or training performing the duties described above may substitute for Associate’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Requirements:
  • One (1) year of criminal justice or paralegal experience.
  • Project management experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages a plus.
  • Familiarity with the office and New York City and State courts a plus.
Commitment:
  • One (1) year commitment to hiring bureau.
