Description
Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office Human Resources Department has an opening for a Human Resources Assistant.  In this position the Human Resources Assistant is responsible for working closely with the Director of Human Resources and the Deputy Director of Payroll providing administrative support to the Human Resources Compensation and Payroll units.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Prepare, review and analyze recommendations for salary adjustments.
  • Coordinate with HRIS and payroll processing for compensation implementation.
  • Analyze costs and competitive trends in compensation programs as they relate to agency goals.
  • Provide support/analysis for compensation and other labor related negotiations.
  • Assists in the financial analysis on merit pay and City short/long term compensation programs.
  • Conducts job analysis and peer equity review of positions.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of legislation effecting City compensation programs.
  • Conducts analysis, reviewing positions for exemption status, salary reports and annual compensation review process.
  • Prepare detailed complex monthly/quarterly reports detailing overtime and other compensation trends.  
  • Prepare analysis and complex spreadsheet models to support special projects, as needed.
  • Provide ad-hoc reports to the Director of Human Resources and the Deputy Director of Payroll.
  • Verify job codes and maintain job code tables, ensuring tables are properly documented in internal systems.
  • Research and update compensation tools and systems.
  • Assist with the Citywide automated timekeeping system.
  • Manual data entry required for most assignments.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint is required.
  • Must possess a readiness and ability to quickly learn and use various industry relevant computer software.
  • Must be detail-oriented paying strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
  • Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple short-term projects.
  • Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, communication, writing, and creative problem solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, with a high regard for confidentiality and diplomacy.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or other related field.
Additional Requirements:
  • One (1) year commitment to the hiring bureau.
