Description
Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office Human Resources Department has an opening for a Human Resources Assistant.  In this position the Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to Payroll and Timekeeping Unit.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  •  Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
  • Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determines payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Assist with the administration, tracking and reporting of data in our HRIS.
  • Data extraction from various in house HR systems to be used in high level reports, audits or other reporting needs.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Proven efficiency in the use of MS Office Suite (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Able to maintain a positive attitude to set the tone for a professional office environment.
  • Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy.
  • Effective communication, strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Prior administrative experience within a human resources department or related work preferred
  • Knowledge and familiarity with DANY’s in-house applications and methods of data extraction from those applications.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
Additional Requirements:
  • One (1) year commitment to the hiring bureau.
