Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an opening in the Community Partnerships Unit for an Education Coordinator.  The Education Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Office’s educational initiatives.  New York County is home to diverse communities that each face a variety of public safety risks. The office seeks to provide a better understanding of the role of the District Attorney’s office and to foster trust and partnership with the community in addressing public safety.  DANY seeks to educate all ages and communities on topics including but not limited to:  Gang and violence prevention, Domestic Violence, Identity Theft, SCAMS, and Internet Safety.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop and maintain relationships with local school leadership and community-based programs
• Update presentations/materials to meet community needs
• Coordinate with DANY ADAs to ensure participation in the educational outreach events
• Schedule and ensure high quality tours, training events, and presentations
• Track and report on outcomes
• Supervise High School Summer Internship Program

Qualifications:

• Superior organizational, writing and communication skills, along with creative problem-solving abilities are essential; resourcefulness, initiative and good judgment essential.
• Knowledge of the Department of Education landscape in New York County
• Strong speaking and presentation skills essential
• Strong desire to promote education and understanding of the criminal justice system

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate-level degree in related fields preferred.

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience working with youth, elderly, and/or LGBTQ communities
• Working knowledge of the New York City criminal justice system
• Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin 

Commitment:
