Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney’s Office has an immediate opening for a paralegal in its Vehicular Crimes Unit. Paralegals provide a full-range of support to the Assistant District Attorneys in the prosecution of crime in Manhattan.

The New York County District Attorney’s Office has an immediate opening for a paralegal in its Vehicular Crimes Unit. Paralegals provide a full-range of support to the Assistant District Attorneys in the prosecution of crime in Manhattan.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Review all new 511 cases; maintain 511 court calendar.
- Act as liaison with Police Department and coordinate police officers appearances.
- Work with unit coordinator to request documents from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Coordinate appearance of DMV witnesses for trial.
- Assist in the VTL part and ensure cases meet speedy trial requirements.
- Analyze trends in strength and weaknesses in DWI prosecutions.
- Perform related administrative and clerical tasks.
Qualifications:
- Excellent organization, communication, writing, and creative problem solving skills are essential.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
- Literacy in computer applications, including knowledge of CACS and other Citynet preferred.
- Knowledge of the office, DMV and criminal justice system a plus.
Ability to learn, update and edit existing proprietary applications and quickly learn and use various computer systems. - Ability to work independently with frequent interruptions, manage deadlines and adapt to changes in workflow.
- Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
- Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of staff, court representatives, law enforcement representatives and witnesses.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
