Description
The New York District Attorney’s Office seeks an Immigrant Affairs Coordinator, Spanish speaking, to work in its Immigrant Affairs Unit.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 
  •  Screens and tracks all Immigrant Affairs cases; answer calls to Immigrant Affairs Program "Hotline".
  •  Serves as a liaison with community organizations and government agencies that provide services to immigrants. Includes some Community Affairs meetings or presentations after 5 :30 p.m.
  •  Maintains central files on all Immigrant Affairs complaints.
  •  Compiles statistical and anecdotal reports.
  •  Attends meetings relating to immigration matters as needed.
  •  Assists Assistant District Attorneys in case preparation and investigations.
  •  Performs various paralegal tasks.

Qualifications & Skills:
 
  •  Bachelor's degree required.
  •  Previous paralegal experience or professional experience working for or with community based organizations, a plus.
  •  Literacy in computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, and Internet required.
  •  Strong interest in immigration law or matters, a plus.
  •  Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills, oral and written are essential.
  •  Excellent oral and written Spanish bilingual skills required.
  •  Resourcefulness, initiative and good judgment required.
