Description
Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an opening for an Investigative Analyst in its Asset Forfeiture Unit. In this position, working closely with Assistant District Attorneys and Senior Investigators, the Investigative Analyst is responsible for gathering, evaluating and analyzing evidence and data on financially motivated crimes for use in related criminal and civil forfeiture litigation. 

 Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Review case reports office-wide and regularly interface with trial ADAs to identify cases with asset forfeiture potential.
  • Assist ADA's in preparing documents related to forfeiture cases.
  • Draft, organize and follow-through on asset forfeiture agreements.
  • Performs analysis of complex financial records pertaining to alleged criminal activity to determine whether or not an offense has occurred.
  • Independently develop and research leads to corroborate the accuracy of information obtained.
  • Identify assets, income, and background reports on targets through review of evidence, financial records and use of databases and other sources of information.
  • Assist in confidential financial investigations.
  • Review case reports office-wide to identify cases with asset forfeiture potential; draft, organize and follow-through of asset forfeiture agreements.
  • Liaison with DANY Staff and law enforcement agencies.
  • Coordinate with DANY’s Fiscal Unit and NYPD on the storage and distribution of forfeited property; return of forfeited funds to crime victims, where appropriate; compile and organize documents for hearings and track court dates.
  • Research factual and legal issues and draft memos, affidavits and other documents.
  • Perform a full range of administrative and paralegal duties as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Must communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Superior analytical writing skills.
  • Excellent ability to analyze financial data and input data into spreadsheets or other charts.
  • Ability to conduct confidential and sensitive investigations.
  • Superior interpersonal, organizational, analytical and investigative skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and a willingness to quickly learn new and emerging industry standard technology.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workflow.
  • Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
  • Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be able to independently perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment; detail oriented and self-motivated and able to multi-task.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff and other law enforcement agencies.
  Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
Other Requirements:
  • Prior law enforcement or investigative agency experience a plus
  • Some knowledge of accounting a plus
  • Two (2) year commitment to the hiring bureau
