Description
Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an opening for a Reentry Coordinator in the Community Partnership Unit. In this position, the Coordinator will assist in the unit’s goal to seek effective reentry options and successful completion of Parole supervision as a key factor in reducing recidivism and increasing public safety. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate the Offender Notification Forums.
  • Oversee the planning of monthly forums for parolees and probationers.
  • Coordinate a pool of speakers from law enforcement and social service agencies.
  • Track arrests of participants and help create and implement strategies to ensure that forum participants are following-up with services offered.
  • Serve as liaison to the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (specifically Parole), the Department of Probation, and Reentry service providers ensuring timely and effective communication on specific cases and general communication on overlapping protocol issues.
  • Works closely with Reentry service providers and other law enforcement agencies to create and implement effective Reentry Initiatives. 
  • Ability to positively articulate DANY initiatives to community and communicate well with all cultural and ethnic groups within the community.
  • Daily coordination and oversight of all aspects of DANY's Operation Gun Stop program
  • Perform related duties.
Qualifications:
  • Superior organizational, writing and communication skills, along with creative problem-solving abilities are essential; resourcefulness, initiative and good judgment essential.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment; detail oriented and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint) and internet search capability required.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, prioritize among competing needs and respond quickly to requests for information.
  • Must possess a readiness to learn and adapt to rapid changes in technology.
  • Working knowledge of DANY and New York State court systems preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of staff, various institutions, local community officials, and law enforcement agencies to build institutional relationships.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience in successful reentry after prison preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking ability a plus
Commitment:
  • One (1) year commitment to the hiring bureau
