Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office has an immediate opening for an Investigative Analyst in its Public Corruption Unit.  The Public Corruption Unit is responsible for investigating and prosecuting both official corruption and public integrity cases. Members of the unit handle and direct complex and challenging investigations that involve substantial documentary evidence, as well as the proactive use of confidential informants, undercover law enforcement agents, and cooperating defendants.  In this position the Investigative Analyst is responsible for providing highly skilled analytical support to the unit Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) and office.

On the official corruption side, the unit has primary responsibility for investigating and prosecuting New York City police officers and other uniformed public servants involved in criminal conduct including perjury, bribe receiving, official misconduct, larceny, falsifying business records, and offenses involving the sale and possession of narcotics. These investigations are conducted by PCU Assistants in conjunction with DANY investigators assigned to the unit, as well as police personnel assigned to the Internal Affairs Bureau of the New York City Police Department.
 
On the public integrity side, the unit is responsible for investigating and prosecuting all types of crimes committed by public employees, elected officials, candidates for public office, and others who hold the public trust.  The unit proactively investigates public corruption in government at all levels, including bribery, election fraud, criminal violations of state and local ethics laws, and other malfeasance by public servants. These investigations are conducted by PCU Assistants in conjunction with DANY investigators and/or members of other law enforcement agencies, including the New York City Police Department, the Department of Investigation, and the New York State Office of the Inspector General.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Within team concept, work closely with ADA’s, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies on long term investigations and prosecutions of official corruption and public integrity cases.
  • Assist prosecutors in developing conspiracy prosecutions.
  • Perform in-depth computer searches of investigative targets.
  • Collect and analyze data relevant to specific unit investigations and cases.
  • Create spreadsheets, charts and other exhibits for investigative use, Grand Jury and trial preparation.
  • Organize and coordinate wiretap evidence.
  • Work directly and independently with police detectives and federal agents.
  • Perform other administrative and paralegal duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Lexis Nexis and/or Clear required.
  • Proficiency in Internet search strategies and techniques.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple assignments required.
  • Ability to think and perform in a highly stressful and fast paced environment required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with financial institutions, regulators, and law enforcement agencies to build institutional relationships a must.
  • Ability to communicate investigative results to other team members and to testify in court regarding investigative results is also required.
  • Superior organizational, time management, writing and communication skills are essential.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • One year experience preferred, either as a paralegal in the criminal justice field or experience conducting online research or other work in social media.
Additional Requirements:
  • One (1) year commitment to the hiring bureau.
