Position summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an opening for a full-time temporary (minimum 6 - 12 months) Security Guard in its Investigations Bureau. In this position the Security Guard is responsible for providing and maintaining, under supervision, a safe and secure environment for DANY employees and visitors.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintain the safety, security, and control of the building at all times
• Control access to the building and verify identification
• Prevent unauthorized access/trespassers to the building
• Screen visitors and inspect packages, brief cases and handbags
• Complete accurate reports by recording observations, information, and occurrences as required
• Alert management of anything suspicious and notify emergency services, if necessary
• Perform related tasks as assigned

• Ability to work with frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workflow.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple short-term projects.
• Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented environment.
• Must be able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment; detail oriented and self-motivated and able to multi-task.
• Ability to interact with all levels of staff, public and vendors.
• Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate calmly, effectively, and courteously in both emergency and non-emergency situations.  

Educational Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required  

Other preferred requirements:

• 1-2 years of security experience preferred
• Must be available to work flexible hours (rotating shifts) both nights and week-ends including holiday
