Position Summary:

The New York County District Attorney’s High School Internship Program is a rigorous six-week internship that provides participants with an insider’s view of the criminal justice system. Our goal is to create opportunities for interns to learn from some of the most experienced professionals working in law enforcement. Through presentations, group projects, bureau assignments, and a mock trial competition, interns dive into the complexities present within criminal justice.
 
In order to support diversity of ideas within our program, we seek applicants who demonstrate curiosity, creativity, and a collaborative approach.

 
Eligibility:
  • Applicants must reside in New York County or attend a school in New York County. New York County includes Manhattan, Roosevelt Island, and Marble Hill.
  • Applicants must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors in high school at the time of application.
  
Required Application Materials:
  • A one-page resume.
  • An essay, no longer than 500 words, discussing a goal or project that reflects your interest in criminal justice. Keep in mind that this essay is an important factor in our evaluation of each application. (Please copy and paste this into the cover letter field on the application).
  • A letter of recommendation from your school. (A second letter of recommendation from school or another activity that you are connected to may be provided, if desired.)

Commitment:
  • Applicants must commit to attend the entire program (July 11, 2016 - August 19, 2016, Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
