Position summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for an Investigative Analyst in its Major Economic Crimes Bureau for its Counter Terrorism Program. DANY’s Counter Terrorism Program began in the summer of 2015 to leverage the vast amount of intelligence DANY accumulates as it investigates and prosecutes the more than 100,000 cases a year to help detect and investigate all local threats, in close coordination with its federal partners. In this position the Investigative Analyst is responsible for providing assistance with large-scale data collection, organization and analysis while working closely with ADAs to enhance their individual cases.  
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Reads and reviews all new ISIS propaganda that is posted on-line
  • Compile and analyze data into reports
  • Perform in-depth computer searches
  • Prepare and present presentations using the latest technology including PowerPoint Photoshop, Avid and Premiere
  • Create spreadsheets, charts and a variety of documents for presentations
  • Create and maintain various in-house databases, filing and records management systems
  • Records and catalogs conferences and provides audio/visual assistance and equipment to meetings/conferences both in and out of the office
  • Coordinates the setup and operation of video and other electronic media equipment
  • Perform a variety of administrative and executive support tasks that are highly confidential and sensitive
  • Excellent organization, communication, writing and creative problem solving skills are essential; must be detail-oriented
  • Compose letters and memoranda in response to inquiries
  • Prepare agenda and collect materials for meetings, speeches and conferences
  • Perform a full range of administrative and investigative duties
  • Perform all assignments in an accurate, professional and expeditious manner
  • Special projects as assigned
 
Qualifications:
  • Fluency in Arabic, with an understanding of the nuances between various regional dialects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; specifically Excel and Access
  • Proficiency with data collection and analytical/web-scraping software
  • Proficient in presentation software such as PowerPoint Photoshop, Avid and Premiere and other presentation software
  • Must possess a general fluency with computer applications and electronic devices and a readiness to quickly learn about and adapt to rapid changes in technology and computer systems
  • Must be detail oriented and experienced in many facets of Internet navigation and research search strategies and techniques
  • Very comfortable giving briefings and presentations
  • Ability to work with a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy
  • Ability to think and perform, under pressure, in a highly stressful and fast paced environment required
  • Superior organizational, time management, writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workflow
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments and short-term projects
  • Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy
  • Ability to communicate investigative results to others
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of staff, various institutions, regulators, and law enforcement agencies to build institutional relationships
 
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with Palantir
 
Commitment:
  • A one year commitment to the hiring bureau.
