Description
The New York County District Attorney's Office has an immediate opening for a temporary part time tutor in its Advocate to Graduate (A2G) Program. A2G is a Manhattan-based advocacy program, which seeks to ensure that youth are equipped with the tools needed to succeed in high school and beyond. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Qualifications and Skills:
Schedule: July 7th - July 31st 9am-12:30pm
Location: Northern Manhattan Office
- Teach literacy though effective practices success as reading aloud, guided reading and modeling reading for youth participants from the ages of 11-18.
- Assist children in practicing literacy through independent or paired reading, journal writing, and conduct individual conferences.
- Provide differentiated individual and small group instruction
- Coordinate with Academic Success Advocates regarding participant’s progress.
Qualifications and Skills:
- College degree required. Current student-teachers preferred.
- Experience moving struggling learners to proficient and beyond
- Experience tutoring youth ages 11-18.
- Knowledge of NYC DOE curriculum preferred.
- Ability to motivate youth.
