Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office has an immediate opening for a Financial Investigator (Consultant) in the Asset Forfeiture Bureau (“AFU”). In this position the Financial Investigator (Consultant) is responsible for assisting Assistant District Attorneys (“ADAs”) in the compilation and preparation of forensic and financial data for asset forfeiture litigation.

The New York County District Attorney's Office has an immediate opening for a Financial Investigator (Consultant) in the Asset Forfeiture Bureau (“AFU”). In this position the Financial Investigator (Consultant) is responsible for assisting Assistant District Attorneys (“ADAs”) in the compilation and preparation of forensic and financial data for asset forfeiture litigation.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform multifaceted confidential financial investigations
- Prepare analysis of complex financial records pertaining to alleged criminal activity to quantify how much money or property was obtained through the crime.
- Identify assets, income, and prepare financial profile and background reports on targets through review of evidence, financial records and use of databases and other sources of information
- Review documents for hidden assets and false statements and make recommendations to ADAs
- Independently develop and research leads to corroborate the accuracy of information obtained
- Identify, compute and communicate the methodology used to commit the offense and the total financial loss to the victim(s).
- Obtain and maintain financial records and other evidence.
- Present results in oral and written presentation to ADAs based on the evidence.
- Draft and sign affidavits and testify at hearings.
- Assist in the execution of search warrants, conduct interviews of victims, witnesses, informants and alleged defendants
- Perform related duties as assigned
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
- Superior interpersonal, organizational, analytical and investigative skills required
- Must communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines
- Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work independently
- Ability to work under pressure
- Several years’ experience as a financial investigator in a government or private sector position
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Two year minimum commitment required
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant accounting experience
- CPA preferred
- CFE preferred
