The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office seeks a Deputy Press Secretary with prior media experience to join its Communications team. Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
  • Serve as a senior spokesperson for a 1,300-person prosecutor’s office, which fields 100,000 cases a year and is a national leader in criminal justice initiatives
  • Pitch stories and field media inquiries from local, regional, national, and international print, broadcast, and online journalists
  • Draft press releases and briefings
  • Coordinate press conferences and public events
  • Help manage online and social media platforms
  • Perform on-call press duty as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:
 
B.A. required. 3-5 years prior related work experience required. Experience with New York City media preferred. Legal education or experience is not required, but it is welcome, and the candidate should express an interest in criminal justice.
