Description
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office seeks an intern to support the work of its External Affairs and Communications Units.

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to: 
  • Researching a range of criminal justice issues, legislation, advocacy positions, and more
  • Drafting briefings and other written materials
  • Coordinating scheduling, fielding calls, and other administrative tasks
 
May include providing support to the Communications Unit, including:
  • Monitoring the Office’s presence in the media
  • Observing court proceedings, including noteworthy arraignments, hearings, trials, and sentencings, and reporting back to the Press Office
  • Using and monitoring social media platforms, including Twitter and Facebook
  • Helping to organize and coordinate press conferences
An ideal candidate for this position is a full time or part time student who is able to commit a minimum of 20 hours a week, and up to full time. Political Science, English, Journalism, or Communications majors, or students with Pre-Law concentrations are preferred. The candidate must be extremely interested in criminal justice and current events. Excellent writing, computer, Internet research and organizational skills are mandatory. Candidates should thrive in a fast-paced setting and have the ability to multi-task.
